Vous attendez une nouvelle révolution? La nanotechnologie nous permettra peut-être de refaire le monde atome par atome ou molécule par molécule. Elle s’applique déjà à fabriquer des tissus qui ne se salissent pas ou qui ne se mouillent pas, des matériaux plus légers que le plastique, mais plus résistants que l'acier, des nanorobots qui peuvent pénétrer à l'intérieur du corps pour administrer des médicaments ou effectuer des traitements, et plusieurs autres objets aux propriétés nouvelles.

En utilisant des instruments comme le microscope à effet tunnel ou le microscope à force atomique, nous pouvons manipuler la matière à l'échelle nanométrique, pour fabriquer des nano-objets 30 000 fois plus petits qu'un cheveu humain, ne mesurant que quelques nanomètres, c'est-à-dire quelques milliardièmes de mètre.
